Ottneil Baartman Ruled Out for Third Pakistan ODI Due to Right Knee Injury

Bowler Ottneil Baartman has been ruled out for the third ODI of the Pakistan tour of South Africa after sustaining a right knee injury. Baartman will be the second bowler to be ruled out after Keshav Maharaj was sidelined due to injury.

Maharaj has suffered a left adductor strain during the warm-ups ahead of the first ODI on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Bjorn Fortuin is a replacement for Maharaj for the second and third ODIs against Pakistan.

Maharaj’s injury just before the toss for the first game has brought in pace-bowling all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo in South Africa’s playing 11.

South Africa has been suffering a major blow with back-to-back injuries ahead of the Champions Trophy and WTC finals run. The hosts are already without Anrich Nortje (fractured toe), Gerald Coetzee (groin), Lungi Ngidi (hip), Nandre Burger (lower back), and Wiaan Mulder (broken finger).

Baartman has been replaced by Corbin Bosch who got his maiden call up in South Africa test squad and in line to make his test debut during Boxing test.

The 31 year old felt discomfort during the second ODI in Cape Town. He did not play in the playing 11 for second game and is set to be part of Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the SA20.

“Hollywoodbets Dolphins fast bowler Ottneil Baartman has been ruled out of the third One-Day International (ODI) against Pakistan due to a right knee injury,” said Cricket South Africa statement.

Pakistan has taken an unassisable 2-0 lead in the ODI series after a comprehensive win in Cape Town after their win in Paarl.

The third match of the ODI series will be played on December 22 at Wanderers Stadium.
