Uncapped Wk-batter Ollie Robinson has been called up to replace injured Jordan Cox in the squad for the upcoming England tour of New Zealand 2024.
With regular week-batter Jamie Smith missing the tour due to paternity duties, Cox had been set to earn his debut on Thursday. However, he fractured his thumb in a net session last Sunday.
Ollie Pope took over the wicketkeeping duties in Christchurch, but Robinson will take over for the second test, which starts on December 06.
Robinson has performed a stellar form in the County Championship with averaging 48 with the bat this season while having in 92 dismissals behind stumps in the past two years.
He has scored 4174 runs at an average of 37.36 in FC cricket including nine hundreds.
Congratulations Ollie and welcome to the squad 🤝

Robinson couldn’t make it to New Zealand on time for first test, but will only arrive in Christchurch on saturday, the third day of the first test because he had begun the process of renewing his passport when he received the callup.
He is the second player with the same name to win an England call-up in the last three years. He is no relation to the other Ollie Robinson even though both players were born in Kent and share a birthday, December 01.
The second test match of the series will be played between December 06-10 at Basin Reserve.
