New Zealand Cricket has announced their New Zealand squad for India tests starting on the third week of October where former skipper Kane Williamson is set to miss the 1st Test.
The Black Caps had a major blow with Kane Williamson will be missing the first test due to a groin strain.
Williamson experienced a discomfort during the second test against Sri Lanka at Galle. His injury required attention and rehabilitation before joining the squad.
With Tom Latham set to lead the side as full-time captain for the first time, New Zealand will be looking to get back from the 2-0 defeat they suffered in Sri Lanka.

The New Zealand selector has spoken about Williamson’s condition saying that he will have smooth rehabilitation and will be available for the latter stages of the series.
“The advice we’ve received is that the best course of action is for Kane to rest and rehabilitate now rather than risk aggravating the injury. We’re hopeful that if the rehabilitation goes to plan Kane will be available for the latter part of the tour,” he said.
Considering the spin-friendly conditions in India, New Zealand has brought in Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, Rachin Ravindra and Mitchell Santner as spin options.
Meanwhile, Tim Southee and Matt Henry along with William O’Rourke will be the pace options in New Zealand’s squad.
In Williamson’s absences, New Zealand’s batting lineup will revolve around Tom Latham and Devon Conway. Meanwhile, there will be eyes on Rachin Ravindra who had a brilliant knock against Sri Lanka at Galle.
The first match of the India-New Zealand tests will begin on October 16 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
