Nicholas Pooran knocked his third fifty of the IPL 2024 during the match between Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants on May 17 at Wankhede Stadium.
Pooran has played 13 matches and amassed 424 runs with a strike rate of 168.92 before smashing fifty against Mumbai at Friday’s clash. Lucknow Super Giants is playing their last match of the group stages and competing for a spot in playoffs.
With six victories, LSG is looking forward to a victory against Mumbai to increase their chances for playoffs. After struggling with early dismissals, Nicholas Pooran’s fifty helped the side to get back into scoring ways.

Coming to the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. With major changes in the playing 11 from both sides, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal opened the innings for Lucknow. After Nuwan Thushara bagged the wicket of Devdutt Padikkal on a lbw, Marcus Stoinis came to bat and joined hands with LSG skipper KL Rahul to revive the side as they struggled with early dismissal.
By the end of the powerplay, Lucknow scored 49 runs losing two wickets. Piyush Chawla dismissed Marcus Stoinis for 28 runs on a lbw in the last ball of the 6th over.
With Deepak Hooda’s dismissal for 11 runs by Chawla in the 10th over, Lucknow lost three wickets to score 69 runs. Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul joined hands to balance the score where LSG scored 130 runs by the end of 14 wickets.
Nicholas Pooran smashed a half-century as he scored 55 runs in 19 balls and joins the list of fastest fifty in the IPL 2024. On the other hand, KL Rahul smashed his fifty on 36 deliveries.
Nicholas Pooran smashed 75 runs on 29 deliveries before being dismissed by Nuwan Thushara on the fifth ball of the 17th over. By the end of 17 overs, Lucknow Super Giants lost five wickets scoring 178 runs.
Arshad Khan was dismissed by Thushara on a golden duck in the last ball of the 17th over while Chawla dismissed KL Rahul for 55 runs in the first ball of the 18th over. With Ayush Badoni and Krunal Pandya’s scores of 22* and 12* runs, Lucknow Super Giants scored 214 runs in 20 overs.
With the target of 215 runs, Rohit Sharma and Dewald Brevis opened the innings for Mumbai, but rain interrupted the play for some time. After resuming the match, Dewald Brewis was sent out for 23 runs by Naveen-ul-Haq.
After the dismissal of Suryakumar Yadav for a duck by Krunal Pandya, Rohit Sharma smashed a half-century and scored 68 runs before being dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi in the 11th over. With Hardik Pandya’s dismissal by Mohsin Khan for 16 runs, Mumbai Indians scored 119 runs for four wickets by the end of 14 overs.
With the dismissal of Nehal Wadhera for one run by Ravi Bishnoi, Naman Dhir smashed his maiden IPL fifty scoring 62 runs in 28 deliveries. By the end of 20 overs, Mumbai Indians scored 196 runs in 20 overs.
