The franchise Lucknow Super Giants has announced Nicholas Pooran as their new Vice Captain in IPL 2024.
Pooran appointed as LSG Vice Captain for IPL 2024
The West Indies Wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran has taken over the all-rounder Krunal Pandya’s position as LSG’s vice-captain. Rahul handed Pooran the vice captain’s jersey with the number 29 on the back at an event on Wednesday.
A Trinidadian cricketer known for his aggressive batting style and has been a key player in the T20 format. He has played for Punjab and Hyderabad franchises before joining LSG during IPL 2023 auction for INR 16 crores.
He was retained by the franchise before the IPL 2024 mini-auction. Pooran has played 15 matches for LSG amassing 358 runs including two fifties with a strike rate of 172.94. Despite Pooran’s set to have a leadership position in the IPL for the first time, he has taken roles for various teams.
On the other hand, Krunal Pandya had filled in as captain for a few games in both the first and second seasons. Pandya has won three matches out of six matches during his captaincy.
KL Rahul will be leading the side as usual and the side is hoping for his recovery from his quadriceps injury. He has visited London to get an opinion on his injury extent.
He played only the first test of England’s tour of India in 2024. He was rested for three tests and was ruled out of the India squad for the fifth and final test.
With the IPL 2024 set to start on March 22, Chennai Super Kings will be playing in the first match of the IPL 2024 against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
LSG will be playing their first match of the IPL 2024 against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 at Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium.
