Notably, India will be playing their last Test match of the series while BCCI hosts the IPL 2023 players auction on December 23.

As per a report, following unsuccessful T20I results, BCCI is planning to introduce a new head coach for the T20I format.

India lost the ODI series to New Zealand and faced an embarrassing defeat to Bangladesh in the first ODI. In less than a month since India’s exit from the T20 World Cup, they have played a multi-format tour against New Zealand and are currently in Bangladesh for ODI and Test series.

Rahul Dravid will primarily focus on ODI & Test Team, while a separate coaching set-up for T20 is being mulled on.

“We are seriously mulling on it. More than it being Rahul Dravid or anyone’s ability, it is a question of managing tight schedules & having specialize skills on board. T20 now is like a separate sport, tough calendar & regular events. We also need to imbibe change. Yes, I can confirm – India soon will have a new T20 Coaching SET-UP”, confirmed top official in BCCI.

When asked about the possible new T20 Coach for India, BCCI official said, ‘no one has been zeroed on so far’. BCCI also plans to appoint a new captain for the T20I format to reduce the work load.

“We are not sure by when, but we are certain about India needs fresh approach to T20 SET-UP. We will have an announcement of NEW-CAPTAIN before January. And new coach can follow, but as I said nothing is final”, said the official without revealing any further details.

This will not be the new playing condition for the cricket community. The 2022 T20 World Cup champions England follow the same method. They have Brendon McCullum for Test cricket and Matthew Mott for white-ball cricket.

The Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes combination scripted a record in the 1st Test match against Pakistan where the team trashed the host by a 74 runs defeat.

Winning the toss Bangladesh chose to bowl first. India struggled to maintain a partnership and loses back to back wickets. KL Rahul then scored 73 runs off 70 balls and dragged India to a score of 186 runs.

Indian bowlers too made an impressive bowling attack and load pressure on the Bangladesh players. Bangladesh’s 10th wicket pair of Mehidy Hasan Miraj and Mustafizur Rahaman scripted an unbelievable turnaround with a 51-run stand that saw the hosts surpass a target of 187 in 46 overs.

Apart from losing the match, Team India was also fined 80 percent of the match fee for maintaining a slow over rate.

The second ODI match of the Bangladesh series will be played on December 7 in Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. While the last ODI match will be played on December 10.

The two-match Test series will be played on December 14, and December 22 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, and Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
