Navjot Singh reacts to Rohit’s omission in 5th Test, says “Deserved more respect”

Former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu criticised Indian team management right after they decided to sideline Rohit Sharma from the crucial test at Sydney. Ahead of the final and most crucial test of the BGT 2024-25, many reports circulated regarding Rohit Sharma’s unavailability for the Sydney test.

While the report received mixed reactions from everyone, fans and cricket experts were left in awe right after Jasprit Bumrah walked down to the toss at Sydney. Even before the toss, it is confirmed that Rohit Sharma will not feature in the do-or-die game.

Standing captain Jasprit Bumrah praises Rohit Sharma’s leadership for opting out in the Sydney game. Rohit only scored 31 runs at an average of just 6.20 in the three innings he featured in this BGT.

After failing to regain his form, Rohit was not considered for the final test while Gill was included in the AUS vs IND 5th test playing11 as his replacement.

Following the controversial decision from BCCI, many former cricketers revealed their point of view. In that order, former Indian cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu has also thrown his view on Rohit Sharma’s case.

“A Captain should never be dropped midstream nor given the option to opt out … sends wrong signals …. Have seen Captain s like Mark Taylor , Azharuddin etc persisted as captain for a year despite bad form …. @ImRo45 deserved more respect and faith from the management … Bizarre coz it happened for the first time in Indian cricket history …. Blunder – for a fallen lighthouse is more dangerous than a reef !” Sidhu posted on X.

Speaking of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, Australia have an upper hand with a couple of victories while the visitors are under pressure to win the test to carry the trophy home.

When we look back at the India National Cricket Team vs Australia Cricket Team Timeline, Australia hasn’t won the BGT title since the 2014/15 season.

The Indian cricket team is scheduled to tour Australia to play five tests between 22 November 2024 and 7 January 2025. Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 will be the first Test series between India and Australia comprising five matches since 1992.
