The Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq has been permitted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board to feature in the ongoing second edition of South Africa’s SA20 2024.
Naveen-ul-Haq to play in SA20 2024
The Afghanistan player Naveen-ul-Hap will feature in the SA20 2024 league after the cricket board has relaxed sanctions on the two-year ban from playing in T20 leagues due to a contractual dispute.
Naveen-ul-Haq alongside Mujeeb Rahman and Farooqi had been imposed sanctions by the Afghanistan cricket board and decided to delay the 2024 central contracts for the players.
The Board also opted not to provide a No Objection Certificate for two years to play in T20 leagues. On this occasion, the ACB has granted NOC to Naveen to play in SA20.
Farooqi and Mujeeb also received NOCs to play in the upcoming ILT20. Naveen-ul-Haq will play for Durban Super Giant in the league. The player has already reached South Africa and will be available to play in the upcoming clash against Pretoria Capitals on Thursday.
He was part of the T20I squad which played a three-match series against India. He finished the series with bagging only one wicket from two games.
The Men in Blues won the three T20 matches in Afghanistan’s India tour in 2024. Afghanistan was super impressive during the third T20I match at Bengaluru on January 17 where they lost a close battle that featured a two Super Over.
He will be replacing England pacer Richard in Durban’s Super Giants squad for the rest of the season. The franchise has also roped in Marcus Stoinis.
Stoinis will be replacing Nicholas Pooran and the Southpaw will be departing to the ILT20 league which is set to begin on January 19.
Durban Super Giants has been successful so far in SA20 as they have 3 victories and placed second in the points table.
They will be facing Pretoria Capitals on Thursday, January 18 at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
