BCB allows Mustafizur Rahman to feature in IPL till May 1
Mustafizur is now available for CSK’s back-to-back matches against Lucknow Super Giants on April 19 and 23, Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 28 and the Punjab Kings on May 1.
The pacer missed CSK’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5 to process his US Visa for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 which CSK lost by 6 wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman will play his last match of the season for CSK against Punjab Kings and will leave for Bangladesh to feature in the T20I series against Zimbabwe.
“Mustafizur was supposed to return after April 30 but now we have allowed him to stay back for their match on May 1st. He is expected to arrive on May 2 for the T20 series against Zimbabwe (from May 3 to 12) and later we are not ready to release him as we want to rest him for a few days before the World Cup,” a BCB official confirmed the development to a media.
Following the announcement, it is confirmed that Mustafizur will be available for Bangladesh for the home T20I series against Zimbabwe from May 3 to 12, and later the T20I series against USA in Texas, from May 21.
BCB excluded Mustafizur Rahman from the squad for the first three T20Is as he requested the board for some recovery time. Mustafizur has taken ten wickets at 18.30 in five matches, including his maiden four-wicket haul in the competition. This is his best performance in the IPL since the 2021 season when he played for the Rajasthan Royals.
For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman has played 91 T20Is and bagged 107 wickets at an economy of 7.63 which includes 1 five-wicket haul.
