The Mumbai batter and brother of India batter Sarfaraz Khan sustained a road accident in UP on Friday afternoon and will be out of action for 16 weeks.
The brother of Sarfaraz Khan will be missing the upcoming Irani Cup 2024 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium played between October 1 and 5. The teenager is also set to miss the start of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season.
While speaking about the accident, Musheer was travelling with his father Naushad Khan and two others from Azamgarh to Lucknow when his car hit a divider and turned upside down on the Purvanchal highway.
While his father and other passengers have minor bruises, it is stated that Musheer is said to have experienced concussion and pain behind his neck. He was taken to the nearby hospital for treatment. The doctors have assessed that Musheer could take at least 16 weeks to recover and might carry a fracture which is yet to be confirmed.
Musheer Khan will be flying back to Mumbai this Sunday for treatment. “He met with an accident last night and will miss the Irani Cup. He will be flying back to Mumbai on Sunday. The medical team of MCA and BCCI is monitoring his situation. The BCCI will be doing another round of medical tests and scan once he returns,” an MCA official said.
The Mumbai team departed to Lucknow to compete in the Irani Cup on Friday evening and Musheer was scheduled to join the side from his hometown.
MCA wanted to fly with the team. However, Naushad requested the association to permit his son to train in Azamgarh to which Mumbai team coaching management agreed.
The Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai are set to take the Rest of India side at Ekana Cricket Stadium from October 1 and 5.
The 19-year-old Musheer, smashed a century on his Duleep Trophy debut earlier this month but amassed only six runs in the other four innings with two ducks.
