Musheer Khan Shatters Sachin Tendulkar’s Records

Musheer Khan smashed a century and became the youngest Mumbai batter to hit a century in the finals of the tournament.

The 19-year-old shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s records who smashed a century for Mumbai in the finals at the age of 21.

Tendulkar’s iconic 140 against Punjab during the Ranji Trophy finals in the 1994-95 season remained unbeaten for almost three decades until Musheer Khan’s century in the 2024 season.

Notably, both instances occurred at the grounds of the Wankhede Stadium, adding to the significance of Musheer’s achievement.

Before his impressive century, Musheer had already made waves on the cricketing scene by representing India at the ICC U-19 World Cup earlier this year.

Coming to the match, Mumbai scored 224 runs where Shardul Thakur was the only half-centurion for the side in the match. He smashed 75 runs on 69 deliveries including 8 fours and 3 sixes.

Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani are the other scorers with 46 and 37 runs respectively for the side. With a trial of 224 runs, Vidharba started their innings where the batting line-up suffered severe loss as they lost all 10 wickets for scoring 105 runs.

Despite their bowling efforts, Vidharba concluded their innings for a low total in the first innings. Dhawal Kulkarni, Shams Mulani, and Tanush Kotian bagged three wickets each for Mumbai.

Starting their second innings, Mumbai had a poor start as openers Prithvi Shaw and Bhupen Lalwani were sent out for 11 and 18 runs.

But with the help of Musheer Khan, Rahane and Shreyas Iyer Mumbai came back to balance the scorecard.

Musheer Scored 136 runs while Rahane scored 73 runs in the match. Shreyas Iyer has been impressive with his 95 runs in the match.

Shams Mulani was the other scorer for Mumbai smashing a half-century and helped the side to reach 400+ runs on the match.

Starting their second innings, Vidarbha was trailed by 528 runs where they scored 10 runs by the end of day 03 at Wankhede Stadium.
