The Afghanistan spinner was part of the Renegades franchise and will be ruled out of the next match in BBL 2023 after a change in NOC issued by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Mujeeb ruled out of Melbourne Derby
The Afghanistan spinner who played a crucial role in Melbourne Renegades of the BBL 2023-24 season so far will be ruled out of the next match due to a change in the No Objection Certificate given by the Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Players like Mujeeb, Naveen-ul-Haq, and Fahalhaq Farooqi had been sanctioned by the Afghanistan Cricket Board after being willing to be left out of the central contracts list for 2024.
The sanctions included no NOCs for the players to play in T20 leagues for the next two years and canceled other NOCs they currently possess.
The Melbourne Renegades had previously said in a statement that they “received no communication that Mujeeb’s availability for the BBL could change from original plans” and “the club will continue to support him for the rest of the BBL season”.
Recently a fresh statement was issued, saying: “Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been removed from the squad after a change to his NOC conditions made him unavailable for the match.”
Melbourne Renegades has completed six matches so far in the BBL 2023 schedule and had only one victory. They won the match against Adelaide Strikers during the match on December 29, 2023, by 4 wickets.
They will be playing their next match against Melbourne Stars on January 02, 2024, at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
He played for the Afghanistan national side during the World Cup. Afghanistan are currently playing in three match T20I series against UAE where they won the first match and suffered a defeat in the second match.
Afghanistan will be playing their third T20I match against UAE on January 02 at Sharjah Cricket Ground.
