The Chennai Super Kings Captain MS Dhoni has hinted at an interesting update on his Facebook account which went viral in minutes.
MS Dhoni hints on Facebook at his New Role
The 17th edition of the Indian Premier League is set to commence on March 22. The tournament awaits the return of the legendary captain MS Dhoni in the Yellow jersey.
Under his captaincy, the CSK won its fifth title in the previous season. While many discussions were raised on MS Dhoni’s retirement after IPL 2023, he announced that he would continue to play for CSK after the finals.
MS Dhoni underwent knee surgery after the IPL 2023 season. Recently his videos of training for IPL 2024 went viral. On this occasion, MS Dhoni had an interesting update on his Facebook account, “Can’t wait for the new season and the new ‘role’. Stay tuned!” he wrote.
However, it is not clear whether the new season mentioned is the upcoming edition of the tournament. But, it is confirmed that MS Dhoni will be having a new role, and the post went viral in minutes.
It created hype about whether MS Dhoni would be coaching or not. “Hope you will be coaching this season,” wrote one user in the comments section of the post.
“New ‘role’ means? Are you gonna work as Mentor too?” wrote another.
Another user event speculated about retirement, “I am pretty sure, Chennai Super Kings is going to announce a new caption for the team. And, retirement is near.”
The franchise has confirmed the arrival of the first batch of players which includes Simarjeet Singh, Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Mukesh Choudhary, Prashant Solanki, Ajay Mandal, and Deepak Chahar.
Meanwhile Chennai Super Kings pre-season camp began on Saturday where pacer Deepak Chahar who has been eyeing a national comeback through a consistent run for his franchise in the IPL beginnings March 22.
“The first batch of local (Indian) players arrived on Friday and more are expected to arrive in the coming days,” said a TNCA official in PTI.
MS Dhoni’s arrival at NCA is yet to be confirmed. Recently he was seen at the Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant couple’s pre-wedding celebrations.
CSK will be playing their first match of the IPL 2024 schedule against Royal Challengers Banglore on March 22 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
