Mominul Haque’s Century Guides Bangladesh Cross 200 Run Mark in 2nd Test vs India

Mominul Haque smashed his 13th test century and helped the side to cross 200 runs at the end of the first session on day four of the second test against India in Kanpur.

He also becomes the second Bangladesh batter to score a test century in India since 2004. The 35-year-old completed his ton in 172 balls with a sweep shot in Ashwin’s delivery which included 16 fours and one six.

The batter continued to bat after two and half days of play were lost due to rain at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

The left-handed batter also broke from Australian captain Ricky Ponting’s unique record on Indian soil. The left-handed batter had scored 96 runs from eight innings.

Mushfiqur Rahim was the first Bangladesh batter to score a test century on Indian soil. He is the sixth Bangladesh batter including, Mohammad Ashraful, Tamim Iqbal, Aminul Islam and Zakir Hasan.

Mominul was batting 40 before the first ball was bowled on Day 04 after two days were washed out. With Rahim falling to Jasprit Bumrah, Mominul reached his half-century from 100 balls.

With Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan falling cheaply, Mominul became aggressive in hitting boundaries. In the last over of the session, he swept Ravichandran Ashwin for a four to reach his century from 172 balls.

Bangladesh were 205/6 from 66 overs after the first session. Finally, Bangladesh scored 233 runs and completed their first innings at Green Park.
