The Pacer Mohammad Amir and All-rounder Imad Wasim have been named in Pakistan’s T20I squad for the upcoming home tour against New Zealand.
Pakistan T20I Squad for New Zealand Series
The Blackcaps are set to play a five-match T20I series on the New Zealand tour of Pakistan 2024 starting on the third week of April. On this occasion, Pakistan has announced has been named in Pakistan’s squad for the home tour where Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim have been included in the squad.
The duo recently came out of the international retirement to be considered for selection for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in June.
Babar Azam who will be leading the side has two uncapped batters Mhammad Irfan and Usman Khan. Both players have been impressive in the recently concluded Pakistan Super League.
“I am deeply honored to have been selected in the Pakistan squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. Breaking into such a formidable team like Pakistan is a testament to the dedication and effort I have put into my game. Now, my focus is on seizing this opportunity and solidifying my position within the team.
“I am fully committed to continuing to work diligently and proving myself worthy of the trust placed in me by the captain and selectors,” said Muhammad Irfan.
Wahad Riaz who is part of the selection committee has opened on picking Wasim and Amir. “The decision to include Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir was a straightforward one, given their availability for selection and considering Haris Rauf’s injury and Mohammad Nawaz’s current form.”
“Both Amir and Imad possess undeniable match-winning capabilities, and we trust they will consistently deliver strong performances to bolster the team’s objectives,” he said.
The first match of the T20I series will kickstart at 07:30 PM IST on April 18 at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
