ECB Announced Replacement for Jack Leach in Ashes 2023 Squad
The Ashes 2023 is scheduled to play between June 16 to July 31 in five different venues across England. The five venues will be Edgbaston, Lord’s, Headingley, Old Trafford and The Oval. We have explained the Men’s Ashes 2023 Venues with Stats for the fans to have an overview of the runs scored in different venues.
Leach’s absence is a blow to England’s strategy, with the left-arm spinner having been a key part of the bowling attack under Ben Stokes’ captaincy. Since Stokes took charge ahead of the 2022 English Summer, no player has bowled more for England in Test cricket than Leach.
Moeen Ali quit the international red-ball game almost two years ago but has agreed to return for the Australia series after fellow spin bowler Leach was ruled out with a stress fracture of the lower back.
“We reached out to Mo (Moeen Ali) early this week about returning to Test cricket. Having had a couple of days to reflect, Mo is excited to join the squad and play Test cricket again. His vast experience, along with his all-around ability, will benefit our Ashes campaign. We wish Mo and the rest of the squad well.” said Rob Key, managing director of England men’s cricket.
After the Edgbaston Test, England will face Australia at Lord’s (June 28-July 2), Headingley (July 6-10), Emirates Old Trafford (July 19-23) and The Kia Oval (July 27-31). CHECK: Men’s Ashes 2023 Tickets With Booking Link
