The fast bowler Mitchell Starc has surpassed Dennis Lillee in the list of most Wicket-takers for Aussies in Tests during the second test of Australia’s tour of New Zealand 2024.

The Aussie star pacer Mitchell Starc Surpasses legendary Dennis Lillee in the list of wicket-takers in Test Cricket after bagging the first wicket of day 01 of the second test against New Zealand.
After dismissing Will Young in New Zealand’s first innings, Starc bagged his 355th test wicket advancing to the fourth spot in the list of highest wicket-takers for Australia in Test cricket.
Shane Warne has been the highest wicket-taker for Australia in tests with 708 wickets. Glenn McGrath bagged 563 wickets in tests and stands second on the list while Nathan Lyon stands third with 527 wickets in test formats.

The fast bowler has been through ups and downs throughout his career and is one of the most expandable Test bowlers for Australia.
With Pat Cummins captaining the side in test format and Josh Hazlewood being Australia’s most consistent bowler, Starc has been dropped in overseas conditions.
Due to his snub, Starc could not complete his 100 test matches despite making his test debut in 2011. Starc has moved 25th spot on the list of the highest wicket-takers in Test cricket.
Coming to the match, New Zealand batted first and scored 162 runs before concluding their innings in the second test. Latham was the highest scored for New Zealand smashing 38 runs including 7 boundaries.
Australia managed to bag 8 wickets for just 140 runs on day 01 in 42 overs. Tom Blundell, Matt Henry, and Tim Southee are the other scorers for New Zealand. After being second fiddle for Josh Hazlewood, Starc bagged three wickets in the first innings of the match.
Currently, Josh Hazlewood was the leading wicket-taker in the match as he bagged five wickets on the match. With a trail of 162 runs, Australia opened their innings where Steven Smith and Usman Khawaja were sent out with 11 and 16 runs.
After putting up a weak performance in recent appearances, Marnus Labuschagne started scoring runs after the fall of openers. But Cameron Green and Travis Head were sent out with 25 and 21 runs respectively.
Australia scored 124 runs on 36 runs losing four wickets by the end of day 01 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
