Mark Wood named in England’s Playing 11 for second Test against West Indies

Durham’s fast bowler Mark Wood has been named in England’s Playing 11 for the second test against West Indies which is set to be played between July 18 and 22.

After a few days of Mark Wood replacing James Anderson in the England Squad who played his farewell test at Lord’s, England has announced their playing 11 for the second test which will take place in Trent’s Bridge Nottingham.

Under the captaincy of Ben Stokes, England sealed victory by an innings and 114 runs in the first test. They have made only one change in the lineup as Mark Wood has been brought into the playing 11 for the next test.

Matthews Potts, Dillon Pennington along Mark Wood are the three bowlers who were in contention to replace Anderson in the playing 11.

Mark Wood was part of England’s T20 World Cup squad where he played five matches and picked three wickets. His recent test appearance comes from England’s tour of India during the Dharamsala test.

Ben Stokes-led England secured a dominating victory at Lord’s as West Indies batters struggled over England’s bowling attacks.

Batting first West Indies scored only 121 runs in their innings despite holding a firm start. But soon the defenses crumbled as debutant Gus Atkinson claimed a seven-wicket haul putting the hosts in control.

Responding to the score, England scored 371 runs in their innings, securing a lead of 250 runs. During the second innings, West Indies faltered once again, scoring only 136 runs before England bowled them out.

Anderson picked three wickets while Atkinson picked a five-wicket haul. Ben Stokes picked up two wickets in the second innings. Young Off Spinner, Shoaib Bashir who made his first home appearance for England did not bowl in the Lord’s Test but retained his place in the second test.
