Texas Super Kings roped Marcus Stoinis for the upcoming Major League Cricket 2024 edition. The second edition of the tournament will be played from July 5 to 28, 2024.
The defending champions MI New York will face Seattle Orcas in the season opener on July 5 in Church Street Park, Morrisville.
Following his impressive outing in the Indian Premier League 2024, he was dragged into Australia’s squad for the T20 World Cup. Stoinis who is without an Australian central contract for the 2024 season scored 388 runs at a strike rate of 147.53.
The Australian all-rounder will join fellow WACA player Aaron Hardie, Daryl Mitchell, South African T20 skipper Aiden Markram and Naveen Ul Haq at the Texas Super Kings for the second season of MLC.
“Signing a world-class player like Pat Cummins is a testament to the calibre of talent the league is attracting, underscoring our global impact and the success of the inaugural season,” said MLC CEO Vijay Srinivasan in a media release.
“It elevates the level of competition fans will get to see and experience on home soil and showcases our commitment to bringing the top-tier players in the world to play in America’s very own league”, he added.
Apart from Marcus Stoinis, many star Australian players including Pat Cummins, Glenn Maxwell and Travis Head are set to feature in the MLC this year.
Marcus Stoinis so far played 59 T20Is scored 940 runs and bagged 29 wickets at an economy of 8.65.
