    Manoj Tiwary Announces Retirement from All Forms of Cricket

    Former India batter Manoj Tiwary announces retirement from all forms of cricket on August 3 and ends a 19-year domestic career. Tiwary represents Bengal in domestic cricket and played for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League.

    The aggressive right-handed batsman made his international debut against Australia in the 2007–08 Commonwealth Bank Series in which he scored only 2 runs in his only innings.

    Manoj Tiwary took to his official Instagram handle to announce his retirement where he wrote: “Goodbye to the game of cricket”.

    “This game has given me everything, I mean every single thing which I had never dreamt of, starting from the times when my life were challenged by different forms of difficulties. Will ever be grateful to this game and to the GOD, who has always been in my side throughout. Taking this opportunity to convey my sincere gratitude to the people who all have played a part in my cricketing journey”.

    “Thank you to my all my coaches starting from my childhood till last year who all have played a part in my cricketing achievements. Manabendra Ghosh, my father figure like coach has been the pillar in the cricketing journey. If he had not been there then I would had not reached anywhere in the cricketing circle. Thank u Sir and wish u a speedy recovery, as your health is not keeping well.”

    Tiwary was the leading run-scorer for Bengal in the 2018–19 Vijay Hazare Trophy, with 366 runs in nine matches.  In January 2020, in the 2019–20 Ranji Trophy, he scored his maiden triple century in first-class cricket, with an unbeaten 303 runs. In 2021, he joined the All India Trinamool Congress political party and was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly later in the year.

    • Manoj Tiwary was signed by Delhi Daredevils in the initial seasons of the Indian Premier League.
    • He was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders in exchange for Moises Henriques before the IPL 2010 season.
    • In the auction for the 4th edition of the Indian Premier League, he was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders.
    • He scored the winning runs for Kolkata in the final of the 2012 competition.
    • In February 2017, Tiwary was bought by the Rising Pune Supergiants team for the 2017 Indian Premier League and in January 2018, he was bought by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction.

    Manoj Tiwary played 12 ODIs, 3 T20Is and 98 IPL Matches during his career and scored 287, 15 and 1695 runs respectively.
