Pace sensation Umran Malik has been named as the replacement player for injured Mohammed Shami for the upcoming Bangladesh ODI series scheduled to kick start on December 4.
Umran Malik Named as Shami Replacement for Bangladesh ODIs
Indian cricket team has been scheduled to tour Bangladesh to play 3 ODIs and 2 Test matches between December 4 – 26. The first match of the series will be played on December 4 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
Notably, India will be playing their last Test match of the series while BCCI hosts the IPL 2023 players auction on December 23.
“Fast bowler Mohd. Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead-up to the ODI series against Bangladesh.
He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series.
The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement,” BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said in a press release.

The second and third ODI matches will be played on December 7, and 10 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, and Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
The two-match Test series will be played on December 14, and December 22 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram and Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka.
