    Leg Spinner Usman Qadir Retires From Pakistan Cricket

    Usman Qadir, a spin bowler and the son of legendary cricketer Abdul Qadir announced his retirement on Thursday.

    After Pakistani cricketer Usman Qadir’s sudden retirement from international cricket, his wife Sobia Usman posted an emotional tweet which has gone viral.

    In her message posted on the social media platform X, Sobia expressed deep frustration describing the day as a “dark day” for her as a Pakistani.

    She criticised the nepotism in Pakistan, stating that favouritism is obstructing true talent from rising. “We cannot move forward until we support those who truly deserve it,” she wrote.

    Usman Qadir’s decision to retire comes amid ongoing struggles related to obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Qadir has played his 25 T20Is and one ODI for Pakistan had faced challenges in recent months regarding his cricketing future. His sudden departure from the game has sparked widespread discussion, with many sympathizing with his situation.

    The 31-year-old cricketer shared the news via a post on X, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to represent Pakistan.

    “It has been an immense honour to represent my country,” Qadir wrote. “I’m thankful for the support of my coaches and teammates who have been with me every step of the way.”

    Qadir also faced challenges, including frustrations over his exclusions from the national team.

    “As I step into this new chapter, I will be continuing my dad’s legacy, embracing both my love for cricket and the lessons he instilled in me,” Qadir stated.

    His last appearance was in Pakistan in 2022 and had since been playing for the Dolphins in the Champions One Day Cup. In the last year, his relationship with the PCB was at breaking points, and he accused the board of mismanaging his injury in May, stating he had screenshots and other evidence to prove it.
