The South African batter Laura Wolvaardt has moved forward in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player rankings after the conclusion of the ODI series between South Africa and Bangladesh.
Wolvaardt surge in ICC Women’s ODI rankings
South African women had back-to-back victories from 1-0 and 2-1 have helped their players rise in the weekly update of the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Players Rankings.
Laura Wolvaardt was the star of the games, with a half-century in the second ODI followed by a fifty in the final match.
Recently, the Bangladesh player Nahida Akter was named as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for November 2023.
Despite not climbing in the rankings, she has improved her 4th spot in the batters list, with just only two points behind Chamari Athapaththu (no.3) and 14 points behind, Beth Mooney (No.2). England player Natalie Sciver-Brunt continues to maintain the No.1 spot in the ODI rankings.
Tazmin Brits who was the opening partner of Laura Wolvaardt smashed a century in the same match as the pair put on a 243-run in the third ODI. Brits have moved 32 places forward to No.41. Anneke Bosch’s made his maiden ODI fifty during the series and her Player of the Match-winning Performance in the second match made her to rise to the No.70 spot.
Fargana Hoque’s century in the second ODI might have gone in vain but it gave her a two-spot raking boost as she climbed to No.13 for batters.
South Africa’s all-rounder Marizanne Kapp had two wickets apiece in the two matches. She moved one place to the No.8 in the bowlers rankings and also to the top of the all-rounder rankings. having previously jointly held the spot with Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner Until last week.
Other big movers in the bowler’s list of South Africa were Nadine de Klerk and Nonkululeko Mlaba who moved to the No.19 and No.24 spot respectively.
