India lost the home test match series 0 -3 against New Zealand. It was a huge defeat and it turns to be a huge record for New Zealand Test Cricket Team who made this happen. But for Indian Team it is a huge set back and it will fall on the senior players who couldn’t able to make it happen.
Does this sound like the last home test all together for Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, R. Jadeja & Ashiwn? There is high possibility that these players are playing the last home test all together as per the reports.
India’s Test Series Whitewash will be a huge concern over the BCCI board and more likely to see some huge decisions on the squad. As the Squad is filled with maximum of experienced and aged team members, still it didn’t help the team to recover from the fall.
As Rohit and his team failed to chase down the 147 score during the third test left the team India to face the white wash against New Zealand.
When questions were asked to Rohit about the future of Indian Test Captaincy, he answered as “Look, I don’t think we can look that far ahead. It’s important to focus on the next series, which is Australia”.
He added that “I’m not going to look beyond Australia series. Australia series, for us is now very, very important. We will try and focus on that rather than thinking what happens after”.
It’s last few series left on Rohit’s Test Captaincy and it is getting more critical because of the poor team performance. It’s more over we should term it as incomplete performance.
“Stocks will be taken certainly and it could be of informal nature since the team leaves for Australia on November 10. But this has been a huge debacle but, with Australia series round the corner and the squad already announced, there won’t be any tinkering,” a senior BCCI source told PTI
Also added that “But if India doesn’t qualify for WTC final in England, one can be rest assured that all four super seniors won’t be on that flight to UK for the ensuing five-Test series. In any case, all four have likely played their final Test at home together”.
It would be very clear that BCCI won’t happy about this series and they don’t want to fall back again as the team is getting old. The Chairman Agarkar and the Head Coach Gambhir should take some crucial calls to rebuilt the strong test team with respect to the performance in bat & ball.
India’s possbility to WTC will be based on thier performance in the Australian Test Series and if they doesn’t qualify after that series then the next test series will be against England in June 2025.
This huge gap will be a challenging time for the selectors to bring in the young players like Sai Sudharshan, Padikkal and so on. As the Indian Squad for Border Gavaskar Trophy is already annouced, it will be the deciding series for Indian Team Qualfication to World Test Championship.
