The record for the Fastest Hundred for Sri Lanka in World Cup History was earlier held by Kumar Sangakkara in 2015 against England where he scored his century in 70 deliveries at Wellington.
Kusal Mendis scored his record-breaking century with an impressive SIX off the 1st delivery of the 27th over. Hasan Ali put an end to Mendis’ impressive inning when he scored 122 runs at a strike rate of 158.44 which includes 14 fours and 6 sixes.

Following his dismissal, Kusal Mendis joined hands with Pathum Nissanka and made a 102-run stand for the next wicket. Shadab Khan broke the partnership by dismissing Pathum Nissanka for 51 runs.
