The left-arm unorthodox spinner Kuldeep Yadav answers regarding whether his white-ball career has come to an end after poor series against England.
Kuldeep Yadav regarding his white-ball career
Kuldeep, 26, who was an automatic choice till the 2019 World Cup, is not in the main team’s scheme of things at the moment. Many felt that his 0-84 against England in Pune earlier this year, had spelled doom for the Kanpur spinner.
Kuldeep was asked about his international career and if he felt that his place in India’s limited-overs setup was over.
“I never felt that my white-ball career was finished after that England game. There are times when you will go for runs. I’ve had four and five-wicket hauls so it would be better if people start talking about those achievements too,” Kuldeep said during a virtual media interaction after his 2-48 against Sri Lanka in the first ODI on Sunday.
“One or two bad games doesn’t finish one’s career. I believe all who have played the game and have knowledge of the game are aware about that fact.
“The track in Pune (during England series) was very good for batting and spinners didn’t have much help. It can happen that wicket doesn’t suit you,” said Kuldeep.
Kuldeep Yadav on playing with Chahal
India spinner Kuldeep Yadav has said that he shares a good bowling partnership with Yuzvendra Chahal and it bodes well for the side that both the spinners played in tandem against Sri Lanka.
“Very happy that after a long time Chahal and I got to play together for the team. We are comfortable with each other and we back each other. We both share inputs on the field whenever it is required, the bonding is nice between us both. We performed well together, we played after a long time and it orders well for the side,” said Kuldeep while replying to an ANI query during a virtual post-match press conference.
Kuldeep has 107 wickets from 64 ODIs and will now look to continue to be among the wickets for India in the remaining matches of the ODI and T20I series. This is the last T20I assignment for India before the T20 World Cup, which takes place in October.
