Kolkata Knight Riders smashed their second 250+ scores in the IPL 2024 season during their match against Punjab Kings on April 26 at Eden Gardens.
Kolkata is one of the successful teams of the IPL 2024 campaign with 5 victories out of seven matches they played. They lost the matches against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals.
Previously, they smashed 272 runs during the match against Delhi Capitals where they won by 106 runs difference and their second 250+ score comes from the match against PBKS at Eden Gardens.
Apart from these scores, KKR has posted three 200+ scores against SRH, RR, and RCB where they secured victory on two occasions. They are the second team with the most to score 250+ totals in the ongoing campaign.
Currently, they secured the second position in the IPL 2024 points table. Coming to the match, Sunil Narine and Philip Salt opened the innings where they went to score 138 runs for the first wicket. Sunil Narine smashed his fifty on 23 deliveries and scored 71 runs including 9 fours and 4 sixes.
Rahul Chahar dismissed him on the 11th over of the match. After his dismissal, Venkatesh Iyer came to the crease while Philip Salt lost his wicket to Sam Curran after smashing 75 runs on 37 deliveries including 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Andre Russell came to bat when KKR lost two wickets in the 13th over. He smashed 24 runs on 12 deliveries including 2 fours and 2 sixes before being dismissed by Arshdeep Singh.
Shreyas Iyer scored 28 runs on 10 deliveries and by the end of 20 overs, KKR scored 261 runs losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. With the target of 262 runs, Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow opened the innings where both went to smash fifty each on 18 and 23 deliveries. With Jonny Bairstow’s maiden fifty in the IPL 2024 season, PBKS went on to score 93 runs for the first wicket
After the dismissal of Prabhsimran Singh on a run out, Rile Rossouw joins the party with Bairstow to put a team score of 132 runs by the end of 10 overs. Rossouw scored 26 runs on 16 deliveries. Punjab Kings crossed the 200-run mark in the 5th ball of the 15th over.
Bairstow Smashed his 100 in 45 deliveries including 8 fours and 8 sixes and has the fastest hundred by balls. Shashank Singh was at the crease to cross 50 runs partnership score.
Shashank Singh had an impressive innings scoring 68 runs on 28 deliveries with 2 fours and 8 sixes. Jonny Bairstow scored 108* runs and finally, PBKS won the match by 8 wickets.
