Ahead of the India tour of West Indies 2023, Indian star batter Virat Kohli feels Chris Gayle might invite everyone to his house in Jamaica just like any of their previous tours of the Caribbean islands.
Kohli expects an invite from Gayle
India cricket team has scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is against the West Indies between July 12 – August 13.
Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team in Test and ODI while Hardik will lead the Indian T20I team in West Indies Tour 2023. The Test series will be a part of the 2023–2025 ICC World Test Championship.
On their previous tours to Caribbean islands, Indian players were invited by Chris Gayle to his house in Jamaica where the players chilled out with fun.
Just as last tours, Virat Kohli feels Chris Gayle will invite everyone to his house. He said, “Well Chris, I have hung out with him for so many years. I am sure that when we are in Jamaica, we will definitely go and meet Chris. He always invites the team home to have a good time and just chill out,” on a press conference.

“So I am sure he is going to do the same again if he is in town. Everyone loves him. We went last time as well to his place, we had a great time and he is such a humble guy. Definitely, if he is free and he is in town, sure we are going to catch up with him.”
“My favorite memory obviously is Antigua. I got my first-ever double hundred in Test cricket in Antigua in front of Sir Vivian Richards. That for me was a very, very special moment and then he met me in the evening as well and congratulated me. It can’t get any better than that,” he recalled.
Gayle, one of the best cricketers in the West Indies, is known for his humility and kindness, also being a favorite among fellow cricketers across countries.
Virat Kohli scored his first double century which came in Antigua in 2016 is his special knock at Carribean. Virat Kohli scored 200 runs, as India smashed West Indies by an innings 92 runs.
He said that being able to score those runs in front of his idol and legend Vivian Richards was one of the best moments in his career. Kohli has scored 463 runs in 13 innings at an average of 35.61 in West Indies.
He will aim to improve this record and help India begin their 2023-25 WTC on a good note by winning this series.
West Indies Tour 2023
India will make its much-awaited return to the field after the finals of the World Test Championship 2023. The match will kick off the West Indies Series with Two-Test match series. Despite losing the WTC, the selectors have only added young players giving a maiden Test call-up.
As the players have reached the host’s ground, they are about to start the preparations soon. With its current performance, West Indies would not be much of a challenge for Team India and they are expected to win Test and ODI with ease. But West Indies shall put some competition in the T20I series against India.
