Kolkata Knight Riders handed a thrilling final-over defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their 209 runs-chase innings. KKR and SRH were scheduled to face off on March 23 in Eden Garden, Kolkata.

Andre Russell Powered KKR With Bat
Winning the toss, SRH decided to bowl first where Phil Salt and Sunil Narine opened the inning while Bhuvneshwar opened the bowling attack on behalf of SRH.
In the last ball of the 2nd over, Sunil Narine loses his wicket while attempting an unwanted run between wickets. following his dismissal, KKR loses another couple of wickets in the 4th over bowled by T Natarajan.
Natarajan dismissed Venkatesh Iyer(7) and Shreyas Iyer(0) in the same over and registered his 50th IPL wicket. Though KKR lost their middle-order batter for single digit score, KKR’s powerhouse Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 64 runs off just 25 deliveries and led KKR to score 208 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
Klaasen Efforts Went in Vein
On the other hand, SRH’s Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma opened the inning in their 200+ run chase inning. Though SRH batters made a 60-run stand for the first wicket, the following batters failed to build a partnership to chase the 200+ runs mark.
While every SRHians thought they were out of the match, T20 specialist Heinrich Klaasen on joining hands with Shahbaz Ahmed made some hope of winning the game which was later scattered by Harshit Rana when he dismissed Shahbaz Ahmed and Klaasen for 16 and 63 runs respectively.
At the end of the day, KKR won the game by 4 runs and registered their first victory of the season.
