    KL Rahul Set to Miss Pakistan Clash in Asia Cup 2023: Indian wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul who was expected to be fully fit for the Asia Cup 2023 is set to miss the initial stage of the tournament.

    As per the Asia Cup 2023 schedule, the 7 times Asia Cup trophy winner will play their first game of the tournament against Pakistan on September 2 at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy.

    Ahead of their departure to Sri Lanka for the Asia Cup 2023, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid gave an update on the star batter.

    KL Rahul is set to miss the first two group-stage matches of the tournament including the high-voltage clash against Pakistan on 2 September at Pallekele. Along with KL Rahul’s injury update, Rahul Dravid also gave an update on Shreyas Iyer’s possibilities of playing in Asia Cup 2023.

    “He’s had a really good week with us. Really done well, done a lot of things. He’s progressing really well on the route that we want to take”, head coach Rahul Dravid said.

    Rahul will stay back in Bangalore with the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and will be assessed again on 4 September ahead of the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup.

    “But he will be unavailable for the first part [of the Asia Cup], for the Kandy leg of the trip. The NCA will be looking after him for the next few days while we are travelling. We will reassess on 4 September and take it from there. But the signs are looking good and he’s progressing really well. He will be unavailable for the first two games.” he added.
