Indian batter KL Rahul has been ruled out of the third test against England at Rajkot. BCCI has been named Devdutt Padikkal has been named as his replacement in the squad.
KL Rahul ruled out of Third Test
KL Rahul will be not playing in the third test of England’s tour of India 2024. He is still at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. KL Rahul suffered with Quadriceps injury during the first test of the home tour.
Due to the injury, he was ruled out for the second Test where India won the match to level the series. There have been lots of dilemmas in the squad selection for the third test due to injury concerns.
He was named as part of the squad for the last three tests after subjecting to fitness. “Rahul has reached 90 percent of match fitness and is progressing well under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team,” BCCI confirmed in a press release.
“He will continue his recovery process at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to be completely match-fit for the fourth and fifth Test.”
Padikkal has received a maiden call-up to Test after having an impressive first-class season. He bats in the No.3 position for the state team where he smashed 151 runs against Tamil Nadu a few days ago. it was his third century of the 2024 season.
Selectors has brought in Rajat Patidar and Sarfaraz Khan is likely to make his debut.
