Indian opening batter KL Rahul who failed to make his dream start in the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 campaign finally found his form back by scoring a crucial half-century in the match against Bangladesh.
KL Rahul On His Struggle in T20 World Cup 2022
The T20 World Cup hasn’t been the sort of tournament that Rahul will be too proud of. He registered scores of 4, 9, and 9 in the three matches.
In the match against Bangladesh KL Rahul scored 32 ball half-century which includes 4 sixes and 3 boundaries at a strike rate of 156.25.
Speaking of his knock, Rahul said: “Been mixed feelings. I got some good knocks before coming to Australia. But the first three games haven’t gone my way. I think I was doing a lot of things right. I wasn’t worried about missing out in the last three games.
I am happy I got a good innings under my belt. We will have to bowl well with the new ball. Some wickets might put pressure on them.”
Speaking on India’s match against Bangladesh, India won the match by 5 runs after the 2nd inns were reduced to 16 overs (DLS method) with a revised target 151. Batting first India scored 184 runs for 6 wickets where Virat and KL Rahul registered their half-centuries.
Indian skipper Rohit Sharma struggled to score runs and walked out after scoring just 2 runs. Post skipper’s dismissal, Virat and KL Rahul made an impressive partnership and scored 67 runs for the next wicket.
Bangladesh’s Hasan Mahmud bagged 3 wickets and restrict India from scoring big. On the other hand, Bangladesh started their chasing in an impressive manner where the openers scored 68 runs for the first wicket.
For Bangladesh, everything went down when the match stop started after the rain. KL Rahul has been the game-changer for India when he run-out Litton Das with a direct hit. Bangladesh started to lose wickets in regular interval post his dismissal.
Bangladesh was in need of 20 runs from the last 6 balls. Arshdeep Singh bowls the last over where Nurul Hasan struck a six off the second delivery and stuns the audience. With 7 needed off the last delivery, Arshdeep Singh bowls in the slot which Nurul Hasan managed to score a single.
With the victory, India moves to the top position of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Points table. India will play their last match of the tournament against Zimbabwe on November 06 in Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.
