Key Indian Players to Miss Out Champions Trophy 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squad for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 starting on February 19.
The Indian team has been boosted with the likes of Bumrah, Shami and Arshdeep in the bowling unit while players like Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Pant and KL Rahul are in the batting lineup.
All-rounders like Jadeja, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar will provide balance in the lineup to bring in a formidable team for the ICC event.
However, several players has missed out on India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad. Despite performing well in the national and domestic matches some players was forced to sidelined due to combinations.
Listed below are the some of the players to miss out the India’s 2025 Champions Trophy squad:
Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj, One of the best pacers in the ODI format did not make it to the Champions Trophy side. With Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami having injury issues, it was bit suprising to see Siraj not get a spot.
Siraj was India’s second highest wicket taker in the Border Gavaskar Series with 20 scalps with an average of 31.15. His experience, resilience, along with rhythm ceritainly makes him a strong case for his inclusion.
Sanju Samson
Sanju Samson who had a impressive outing in the domestic cricket had to make way for wk-batter Rishabh Pant in the India squad for the ICC event. This time he had to make way for the left hander to stabilize the middle order which had too many right-handers.
Samson can be flexible when it comes to batting lineup. Known for his prowess in ODI, Samson has been consistently performing and also demonstrated his ability to perform under pressure. His aggressive style can provide the team with a much needed momentum in the late overs.
Karun Nair
Despite being at his best in the domestic events, Karun Nair failed to get a chance in the squad. Karun Nair who had an impressive average of 75.2 at domestic tournament has made way for the Shreyas Iyer who has more experience than the veteran.
Nitish Kumar Reddy
Another one name missing in the India’s Champions Trophy 2025 squad is Nitish Kumar Reddy. He certainly deserved the spot in the squad, after highlighted a remarkable century against Australia that helped India recover from a challenging position.
Another reason is his contribution as an all-rounder. Nitish not only excels with the bat but has the ability to make meaningful contributions with the ball, adding depth to the team’s performance.
