Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh has signed a two-month deal with Kent to play in the County Championship 2023.
Kent Signs Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh has agreed on a two-month deal to play in five County Championship matches in June and July. Arshdeep will be available for matches against Surrey, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire, Essex and Nottinghamshire.
Arshdeep is the third overseas player confirmed by Kent for the upcoming season. George Linde will return to play all formats as part of the two-year deal he had signed while Kane Richardson has been signed to play the T20 Blast.
Kent County made the announcement on their website. “We’re delighted to have a player of Arshdeep’s potential join us for five matches this Summer. He has demonstrated that he has world-class skills with the white ball, and I am very confident he will be able to put those skills to good use with the red ball in the County Championship”, Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said.
On joining Kent, Indian pacer Arshdeep Singh says “I am excited to play red-ball cricket in England and continue to improve my skills in the first-class game. I look forward to performing in front of Kent’s Members and supporters; Rahul Dravid has already told me it is a Club with a great history.”
He will become the fourth Indian player to play for Kent after Kanwar Shumshere Singh, current India men’s head coach Rahul Dravid and Navdeep Saini.
Arshdeep Singh made his ODI debut for India in a match against New Zealand in November 2022 and has played 3 ODIs so far and still waits to bag his maiden ODI wicket. On the other hand, he played 23 T20Is and bagged 36. The left-handed bowler still waits to make his Test debut for India.
