Coles has spoken about Alzarri’s workload management in an interview on media saying, “As far as Alzarri is concerned, it always helps to have a period of time away from the game to work on your individual skills, because you could get drawn into moving from one tournament to the next and might actually lose some of your skills.
“So it’s building in the right amount of rest time where he does nothing, but then also have little periods where he is not in competition. That way he will be able to create more control around his bowling.”
Notably, Jomel Warrican, Justin Greaves, and uncapped Bryan Charles have been included in South Africa tests.
“The selection process for this squad was led by our Head Coach, Andre Coley,” Miles Bascombe, said CWI’s director of cricket. “pending the implementation of our new selection process, which will be rolled out in the coming days and articulated publicly shortly.”
Last month, CSA announced South Africa’s 16-member squad for the West Indies test featuring the return of Matthew Breetzke.
West Indies are set to face South Africa after suffering a 3-0 defeat against England and will be eyeing a victory in the series. West Indies are currently at the bottom of the WTC points table with only one win in seven games.
The first test of the series will be played between August 07 and 12 at Queen’s Park Oval.
