Former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria suggests that Babar shouldn’t be compared to Virat Kohli. Danish Kaneria’s suggestion came right after England whitewashed Babar Azam led Pakistan on their home ground.
Danish Kaneria Slams Babar Azam
During the England tour of Pakistan 2022, both teams are scheduled to play 3 Tests which are a part of the WTC 2021-23.
With the defeat, Pakistan slips to 7th position in ICC WTC 2021-22 points table and eliminates from the WTC 2021-23 final race. Whenever Babar Azam struck some handful of runs, his stats will be compared with Indian batter Virat Kohli.
Though many cricket experts and former cricketers made a comparison and praised either Virat or Babar but former Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria suggest not to compare Virat and Babar.
“People should stop comparing Babar Azam to Virat Kohli. The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are very big players. Pakistan has nobody in their team who can be compared to them. If you make them talk, they will be a king. When you ask them to produce results, they’ll be zero,” said Kaneria in a video on his YouTube channel.
Notably, Babar Azam enters the list of players who scored more than 1000 Test runs in a single calendar year(2022).
In the video, Kaneria also termed Babar “a big zero” when it comes to captaincy. He asserted that the Pakistan skipper should’ve taken a few learnings from Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes during the series.
“Babar Azam is a big zero as captain. He doesn’t deserve to lead the team. He is not capable of leading the team, especially when it comes to Test cricket. He had a good chance of learning captaincy by looking at Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum during the series. Or, he could have kept his ego aside and asked Sarfaraz Ahmed how to captain,” Kaneria said.
Further in the video, the ex-Pakistan spinner even suggested that Babar shouldn’t be playing the longest format of the game anymore.
India who is currently in Bangladesh leads the 2-match Test series after beating the hosts in the first test by 188 runs. India will play the last Test match on December 22 in Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. While New Zealand will tour Pakistan to play 2 Tests and 3 ODIS between December – January 2023.
