The New Zealand skipper has played 13 matches this season for SRH after being retained by the franchise but has failed to deliver with the bat, scoring just 216 runs at a strike rate of 93.51.
In his absence, SRH has the likes of Bhunveshwar Kumar, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram to lead the side. While Bhuvneshwar has led SRH in the past, Pooran was recently named West Indies’ limited-overs captain following Kieron Pollard’s retirement.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their last league match against Punjab Kings on May 22 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Notably, this match will be the last league match of the IPL 2022.
