Kane Williamson Joins Durban Super Giants for SA20 2025 Season

The New Zealand batter Kane Williamson has joined Durban Super Giants for the third season of the SA20 2025 league.

The Kiwi is the second-highest run scorer for his country across all formats, with 18000 runs in 358 matches across the formats. Williamson is set to make his first appearance in the league. With the tournament will kickstart from January 09, the retention deadline will be June 21 while the last date for direct signings is August 31.

Durban Super Giants are the runners in SA20 2024 after losing the finals match against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the final. Meanwhile, England player Chris Woakes has been a key player for the side in white-ball cricket over the years, notably in the 2019 ODI and 2022 T20I World Cup successes.

However, He was not part of the 2024 T20 World Cup played in the USA and West Indies. Among other England Players, Joe Root was another signed by Paarl Royals last week and Ben Stokes has been offered a substantial contract by MI Cape Town.

“There’s a number of great competitions on during that time, but SA20 looks really exciting. Unfortunately, it meant turning down a central contract. However, my priority still is, absolutely, playing for New Zealand. Think I miss maybe a handful of games over a three-week period,” told Kane Williamson.

Kane Williamson has stepped down as the skipper of the New Zealand white-ball cricket. He has also declined the central contract for the 2024-25 season on June 19.

The New Zealand Cricket Board announced the decision made by Williamson on their official website and claimed that the star batter made the call to prolong his international career.
