Kamran Akmal hails Suryakumar Yadav and says ‘ he makes the game one-sided’

India has been currently playing in the 5-match T20I series where hosts West Indies lead the series 2-1. India won the 3rd T20I match of the West Indies tour 2023 where India’s left-arm fast bowler Kuldeep Yadav, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma broke multiple records on Tuesday.

Kamran Akmal hails Suryakumar Yadav against West Indies

The Former Pakistani Wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal was surprised by Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance after the India batter helped India had on a seven-wicket win over West Indies in the third T20I of the five-match series in Guyana on Tuesday.

Suryakumar had given a comeback to his best as India stayed alive in the series with the victory against West Indies.

West Indies Skipper Rovman Powell had scored unbeaten 40 runs out of 19 balls pushing his team to 159/5 after Kuldeep Yadav stemmed the flow of runs in the middle overs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill were sent out in a runout before Suryakumar with his brilliant 83 runs out of 44 balls helps India to chase down the target in 17.5 years.

“When early wickets fell, it was still okay because the senior batters took responsibility and ensured the job was done.

Suryakumar Yadav is such a player that when scores runs, he just makes the game one-sided and that’s exactly what he did,” the former Pakistan wicketkeeper said on his YouTube channel.

Tilak Varma had scored 49 runs out of 37 deliveries and was happy to play second fiddle to his Mumbai Indians teammate Suryakumar where he scored 87 runs. Tilak Varma missed his second half-century and missed his second fifty in his debut series as skipper Hardik Pandya scored 20 runs that include a winning six.

Talking about India’s batting, Akmal observed: “There has been a marked change in batting. There has been a sense of responsibility and game awareness that ‘Hey, we are doing something wrong and we need to change it if we want to win games’.”

India struggled in the two T20Is as their batting is concerned. Kamran Akmal thinks it was due to the lack of match awareness and irresponsible shot selection and was not due to the quality of the batters.

The former cricketer believes India can still have a strong batting line-up without senior batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“Although they don’t have star batters like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, this Indian batting line-up can still score 200 runs.

They just need to show the same game awareness and ensure that the openers need to utilize the powerplay. When you plan and execute according to the conditions, everything falls into place.”

Both teams will be preparing for Florida in the USA to play in the finals two T20Is and India will be looking for a potential chance of making a sensational series comeback.

India will be expected to meet West Indies in the next T20I match on August 12 at Central Broward Regional Park.
