The Sri Lankan Cricketer Kamindu Mendis was named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2024.

Kamindu Mendis has won the ICC awards in the Player of the Month category after beating Ireland pacer Mark Adair and New Zealand pacer Matt Henry.
Mendis became the third Sri Lankan Player after Prabath Jayasuriya and Wanindu Hasaranga to win the award.
“I am extremely happy to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month, which I consider an inspiration for my international career,” Mendis expressed. “A recognition such as this motivates and makes us as players work more and more to deliver in the middle for the team, country, and fans.
“I also wish the very best for the other two players who were nominated along with me, Mark Adair and Matt Henry, whom I consider excellent players and good competitors.”

Kamindu has played three tests, seven ODIs, and 10 T20Is til now in his international career.
The 25-year-old came back to the international side after 2022. He started the month with 68 runs on the Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh 2024. He was impressive during the first test where he hit two centuries in the first and second innings.
He also revived Sri Lanka where they suffered with 57/5, stitching a massive partnership of 202 runs for the 6th wicket along with Dhananjaya de Silva.
After containing Bangladesh for 188, the duo rescued the visitors and helped the side to win the match. Mendis became the first player batting at no.7 to hit two centuries in a single test.
Sri Lanka posted 418 runs and won the match by a big margin of 328 runs. with no schedules available before the Men’s T20 World Cup, he will be expected in the T20I squad for Sri Lanka who will be starting their preparations soon for the upcoming ICC event hosted by the USA and West Indies in June.
