After Jhye Richardson joined Perth Scorchers, Josh Brown and Will Sutherland have been included in the Melbourne Renegades Squad for the Top End T20 series in Darwin while Australia quick Scott Boland has joined Melbourne Stars Academy.
Will Sutherland who made his ODI debut against West Indies last season, will lead Renegades in the top-end T20 league. He has been recovering from another stress fracture of the back which ruled him out of a second consecutive county stint having lined up a deal with Somerset.
Josh Brown was one of the big moves after he was lured away from Brisbane Heat after a brilliant run in last year’s BBL including some stunning innings where he scored 140 runs off 57 deliveries against Adelaide Strikers. The top-end tournament will be Brown’s first outing with his new club.
Renegades has also included Kane Richardson and Victoria opener Marcus Harris who is currently involved with BBL. On the other side, Australian quick Scott Boland will join Melbourne Stars Academy which has been out of Competitive cricket since April due to an injury, and will also serve as the bowling coach for the stars.
Hilton Cartwright will be part of the BBL squad while the Top End T20 series will feature several teams alongside the Renegades and stars, including Northern Territory Strike, Adelaide Strikers, Tasmania, ACT Comets, Pakistan A, and Bangladesh High Performance.
Jake Weatherald and D’Arcy Short will represent NT Strike, with Weatherald also playing for Tasmania and Adelaide Strikers and Short for Western Australia and Strikers.
