Jos Buttler Scored a Century in His 100th IPL Appearance

Jos Buttler becomes the second player to register a century in their 100th IPL appearance after KL Rahul’s unbeaten 103 against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2022.

The portfolio wicket-keeper batter made a struggling start in Rajasthan’s IPL 2024 campaign. In his first three games of the season, Buttler scored just 11(vs LSG), 11(vs DC), and 13(vs MI).

As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Rajasthan Royals were scheduled to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 6 in Jaipur to play the 19th match of the season.

Buttler put an end to his struggle and made his way back in style by scoring an impressive century in Rajasthan Royals’ 6 wicket victory match.

With the victory, Buttler becomes the second player after KL Rahul to score a century in their 100th IPL match.

    • 100*(58) vs RCB, 2024

Speaking on the match, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl first where Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis opened the inning. Despite the previous matches, the duo made an aggressive start and went on to surpass the 100-run mark.

Rajasthan Royals on the other hand struggled to make the breakthrough to restrict the run flow.

At the end of the 14th over, Chahal dismissed Faf du Plessis for 44 runs and broke the well-settled partnership. Notably, Kohli and du Plessis added more runs today (as a pair) than they collectively managed across the last four innings (124).

During the inning, Virat Kohli becomes the first batter to score 7500 runs in Indian Premier League history.

Following the RCB captain’s dismissal, Maxwell also lost his wicket to Nandre Burger after scoring just 1 run off 3 deliveries. On the other hand, Virat Kohli continued his aggression and scored his maiden century of the season in 67 deliveries and made an outstanding inning. His century includes 9 boundaries and 4 sixes.

At the end of 20 overs, RCB scored 183 runs for 3 wickets loss.

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler opened the innings on behalf of Rajasthan Royals where Jaiswal lost his wicket to R Topley for a second-ball duck. Following his dismissal, Sanju Samson and Jos Buttler made an outstanding inning and added 148 runs for the next wicket.

Siraj dismissed Sanju Samson for 69 runs and prevented a 150-run stand. But on the other end, Jos Buttler with his steady inning led Rajasthan Royals to a safer zone.

With a six off the first ball of the final over, Jos Buttler scored his maiden IPL century of the season and also led the team to register their 4th victory of the season.

Rajasthan Royals registered their fourth consecutive victory of the season by beating RCB by 6 wickets in Jaipur.
