Jitesh Sharma Hit Wicket: The Maharashtra-born wicket-keeper batter Jitesh Sharma has become a quite searchable person right after BCCI named him as the replacement player for the injured Sanju Samson in the ongoing Sri Lanka T20I series.
Jitesh Sharma Hit Wicket
Cricket experts claim that in the absence of KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, India were left out with the only wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan in their current T20I squad. Thus the inclusion of Jitesh Sharma will act as a backup for Kishan and notably, Jitesh can be used as a batter at no.5 and 6.
While many explain the reason for the inclusion of Jitesh Sharma in the place of Sanju Samson here we will recall an incident that happened in 2014.
A Twitter user shared the video and explains the incident of “Jitesh Sharma Hit Wicket”. The incident took during one of India’s domestic games in 2014 where Jitesh Sharma at the striker’s end landed his foot over the leg stump and dislodged the bails and even reshaped the stump.
This was clearly a hit wicket as per the ICC rules, but the non-striker shouted for a single and completed the run. None of the players including the umpire noticed the incident. The non-striker who reached the other end adjusted the stumps and continued batting.
In June 2014, I received a clip on WhatsApp from a friend. Don’t ask who. It was the era before select domestic #cricket games were streamed on OTT platforms. It was cut through BCCI’s own six-camera set-up pic.twitter.com/hEDemoZMen

With Rahul Tripathi most likely to get a chance to play in the next two T20Is for India against Sri Lanka, Jitesh would like to believe that his hard work and performance in the domestic circuit did not go unnoticed.
The second T20I match of the Sri Lanka tour of India is scheduled to play on January 5 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune.
