Jemimah Joins Superchargers as Heather Graham’s Replacement in the Hundred 2023

Heather Graham’s Replacement in the Hundred 2023: Ahead of the much-awaited The Hundred 2023 tournament, Northern Superchargers have named India’s Jemimah Rodrigues as the replacement for injured Australian Heather Graham.

As of the Women’s Hundred 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between Trent Rockets vs Southern Brave on August 1 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Almost all the men’s and women’s matches take place as back-to-back double-headers at the same venue on the same day.

Notably, the replacement player Rodrigues was Superchargers’ leading run-getter in the inaugural season, in 2021, aggregating 249 runs in seven innings having set the tournament alight in her team’s curtain-raiser with a scintillating 92* off just 43 deliveries.

“I’m so excited to be back in The Hundred. It’s a world-class competition, and I’ve had so much fun taking part in it previously. I was very disappointed to have to withdraw last year through injury, so it’s great to be back. Headingley is a brilliant ground to play at, with great fans, and I can’t wait to be back out there,” Jemimah was quoted as saying by The Hundred.

This will be the Indian allrounder’s third successive season with the franchise, although she was forced to withdraw midway through the 2022 season with a wrist injury.

Though not retained ahead of the March draft, Rodrigues’ late entry now makes her the fourth Indian in this year’s competition after her national captain Harmanpreet Kaur (Trent Rockets), vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (Southern Brave – retained) and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (London Spirit).

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia have pulled out Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry from this season after the senior duo sustained injuries in the second ODI of the ongoing series in Ireland following the Ashes, which Australia retained.

Australia captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out with a broken finger, replaced at the Superchargers by compatriot Phoebe Litchfield. She was due to return for the Superchargers, but will now be heading home for rehab immediately.

Tahlia McGrath, Healy’s deputy, is leading Australia in the ongoing third ODI on Friday (July 28), which is a part of the ICC Women’s Championship 2022-25.

When it comes to T20s, Jemimah did a fantastic job for Delhi Capitals in the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. In T20Is, the youngster has represented India in 83 matches and scored 1751 runs.
