BCCI confirmed the return of Jasprit Bumrah to the Indian side in the Ireland T20I Series and updates that he is bowling in practice nets with full intensity.
Jasprit Bumrah’s speed questioned on post-recovery
Jasprit Bumrah returns to the squad for India’s tour of Ireland tour 2023 after his recovery will have a huge impact on India’s team in Asia Cup 2023 and World Cup 2023.
Bumrah is currently in rehab and undergoing some practice matches under the supervision of a physio at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. The announcement of Bumrah’s return was made by BCCI for the T20I series against Ireland on July 31, 2023, where he leads the India squad for the second time.
Bumrah missed the Indian Premier League 2023, Asia Cup 2022, and T20 World Cup and underwent back surgery. He was ruled out of action since September last year, missing T20 World Cup, the IPL, Australia’s Test Series in India, and WTC final against Australia.
BCCI had recently said Bumrah is bowling with full intensity and footage has now surfaced of Bumrah bowling to juniors in the practice match.

Bumrah had bowled to some Mumbai batters in an intra-squad practice match on Friday at Alur cricket ground near Bengaluru. It is likely that Bumrah has bowled first time in his journey to full fitness.
Bumrah had bowled 10 overs divided into two spells and reportedly took the wicket of Mumbai opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Additionally, Prasidh Krishna, the other India pacer returning to full fitness, bowled in a Mumbai practice game on Saturday.
Fans are concerned doubting about Bumrah’s potential comeback. There were many requests to management to bring back Bumrah only when he is fit, on recalling last year’s case when he was brought back after the Asia Cup T20I series against Australia on the home ground.
After that, he has not returned to action after he suffered from a lower back stress fracture to his back and going surgery earlier this year.
Bumrah shared a video of himself bowling at full tilt during his time at the NCA. The decision on appointing him as the captain for the Ireland series shows great confidence in his abilities, but it will put a huge burden on him.
The selectors and team management are aware of the workload imposed on him too soon and are set to look at how he responds to four over the bowl before bowling 10 overs in a match.
Bumrah is set to make a return to international cricket after a long absence due to injury. The 29-year-old right-arm seamer has been named the captain of the Indian team for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland scheduled to begin on August 18, 2023.
