Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep Fight Back to Help India Avoid Follow On at Gabba

The Blitz from Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep for the final wicket has ensured India avoided the follow-on on day 04 of the Brisbane Test.

However, Absolute fifties from KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have played a key role in avoiding follow on in the third test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Rahul’s 84 and Jadeja’s 77 kept the hosts at bay before 39 runs from Bumrah and Deep completely left them frustrated, leaving the Indian management and fans in ecstasy.

Aussies were frustrated by rain and the resilience of four batters as victory clinched away from the visitors. After getting a lifeline with Steven Smith dropping the catch, KL Rahul started to trouble the hosts and gritted to get India to a safe spot.

On the other end, Rohit Sharma struggled and was dismissed on Cummins spell for 10 runs off 27 balls. India was left reeling for 74 at 5 and the Aussies were confident about bowling out India.

However, Rahul reached his fifty off 85 balls and got a hand from Ravindra Jadeja at other end, The duo made a 67 run partnership to frustrate the hosts and rain intervention has made it tough for Australia.

KL Rahul looked for well-deserved hundred and seemed to be coasting when he was on 84. But Smith was able to cut short Indian batters century with an absolute stunner at slips from Nathan Lyon’s spell before lunch.

With Jadeja’s fifty India seemed to avoid the follow on with the score at 180 for 6. But Australia would hit back after the play resumed as Cummins was able send off Nitish Reddy.

Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj combined to take scores past the 200-run mark. With rain intervened with stop-start play, Siraj has been sent out by Starc.

Australia took full control to rash him out and was caught in deep with India down to last one wicket for 213. This left Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep under limited options where they went to score 10 and 27 runs by the end of day 04 at The Gabba.
