Jason Roy Reveals Reason for not joining KKR
The England batter Jason Roy has pulled out of the upcoming IPL season due to a family emergency.
The franchise has revealed that Jason Roy has decided to stay out of the IPL 2024 league which is set to be held ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
On this occasion, the player has revealed the reason behind his decision. In an official post by KKR, Roy said that it is important to spend some time with his family having been on the road over the past year.
“After much consideration, I have made the tough decision to miss this year’s IPL. Having been away since the start of January I need to get back to my family and have a refresher before a very busy year ahead. I will be supporting my friends and teammates at KKR throughout the tournament and wish them the best of luck,” Jason Roy said in a statement.

Salt who played for Delhi Capitals during last year’s season had gone unsold during the 2024 auction. England WK-Batter has been bought by KKR for his reserve price of 1.5 Crores.
“Kolkata Knight Riders have named Phil Salt as a replacement for Jason Roy after the latter pulled out of the upcoming TATA IPL 2024 owing to personal reasons. Having remained unsold in the auction after representing Delhi Capitals last year, this will be Salt’s second season in the IPL,” said in an IPL release.
Phil Salt made his debut in IPL during the 2023 season, where he played 9 matches to score 218 runs out with a high score of 87 at a strike rate of 163.91.
The 17th edition of the IPL 2024 is set to commence on March 22 with CSK and RCB to play in the first match of the schedule.
As the tournament approaches, Many players have withdrawn from the tournament and the franchises have been naming the replacements for the players.
Kolkata Knight Riders will be playing their first match of the IPL 2024 campaign on Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Eden Gardens.
