Jangoo, Carty Powers West Indies Clean Sweep in ODI Against Bangladesh

Amir Jangoo and Keacy Carty’s 104* and 95 helped the West Indies power a 322-run chase against Bangladesh. The win in St.Kitts has secured a clean sweep in the ODI series in the Bangladesh tour of West Indies.

Jangoo became the first West Indian in 46 years to score a century on ODI debut. He guided the side with two rapid partnerships. It is also the fourth time that West Indies successfully chased a 300-plus target in ODIs.

West Indies struggled with the top order failure slipped for 86/4 by the 15th over.

Keacy Carty missed a ton by five runs with Jangoo smashing century and completed the chase with25 balls to spare.

Jangoo along with Carty added 132 runs for the fifth wicket. West Indies lost two wickets in quick session, he combined with Gudakesh Motie for an unbroken 91 run partnership for the seventh wicket to take home.

Hasan Mahmud then had Shai Hope caugh at slip for three before Sherfane Rutherford and Carty stabilised the innings with a 55-run fourth-wicket stand.

Carty was steady at the other end, already having struck two fours. Afif dropped him on 22 before Carty went after Bangladesh spinners in the middle over.

Motie remained unbeaten 44 runs off 31 balls, hitting three sixes and fours. Bangladesh posted 321 for 5 wickets on the back on four fifties. Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali added 150 runs in an unbroken sixth-wicket stand.

Mehidy had a positive start, hitting five boundaries in the powerplay. His 77 runs, along the likes of Mahmudullah’s 84 and also a steady 73 runs from Soumya Sarkar made an impressive total, but proved to be insufficient against a resurgent West Indies side.

The first T20I match of the West Indies-Bangladesh will begin on December 16 at Arnos Vale Stadium.
