James Anderson remark on Virat Kohli’s absence
Veteran England Bowler James Anderson spoke about the absence of Indian star Virat Kohli who missed the test series to welcome his second child in London.
Despite Virat’s absence, India won the series 3-1 with a Test match yet to be played. On this occasion, the veteran speedster said, “Yeah, you always want to play against the best players.”
“And it’s been a shame that he’s not been a part of the series. We have had some great battles over the years. But not just for me, I think as a team you want to play against the best in the world and he certainly is that.”
“I guess English fans will be thankful he’s not playing because he’s such a quality player.”
But from our point of view, you want to test yourself, you want to come up against the best and he’s been someone who I’ve found challenging to bowl at over the years and it’s a shame he’s not been playing,” Anderson added.
Anderson has picked 8 wickets on 6 innings so far in the series after being excluded from the first test in Hyderabad. He is only two wickets away to bag 700 test wickets. He has played a total of 186 test matches at an average of 26.51.
Anderson and Virat Kohli have a quite Rivalry over the years. The Pacer has bowled against the Indian star several times. He even dismissed Virat Kohli for 10 times. Kohli has scored 331 runs against Anderson.
Virat Kohli has missed the entire test series and was with his wife Anushka Sharma in London. They revealed the birth of the baby boy “Akaay” on February 21 through Instagram.
India and England will be playing their fifth test starting on March 07 at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.
