Aiden Markram-led South Africa secured a seven-wicket victory on day 04 of the first test against Bangladesh on October 24 at Shere-e-Bangla.
The combined efforts of the batter and bowlers brought them a well-deserved victory boosting the confidence of the side. Notably, the crumble of the host’s batting lineup in the first innings has helped a lot.
Despite Mehidy Hasan putting up a fight in the second innings which made the visitors to bat second innings, South Africa won the match at ease.

While speaking at the conference, Aiden Markram said, “I think it’s special. We’ve a pretty young, or slightly experienced group, so to come to the subcontinent and get a result creates a nice buzz in the change room.”
“It gives us a bit of belief that we can compete in conditions where the odds are maybe stacked against us. I’ve been playing now for a couple of years and never won in the subcontinent, so it is a special moment for us.”
“Having said that, I think the biggest thing you take from it is the belief and the confidence that you actually gain,” Markram told a press conference.
The win in the upcoming test can solidify the chances of South Africa to play the WTC decider in London next year.
“A lot of the game is played from a confidence and a belief and from a mental side of things, so I think that this win will help a lot of us moving forward. We will see if we can put back-to-back performances together because that’s ultimately what makes a really good team,” Markram said.
South Africa has moved to the fourth position while Bangladesh secured 7th position in the WTC points table. The second test of the Bangladesh South Africa tests will begin on October 29 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
